TAAG Angola Airlines performed today the first commercial flight with the Airbus A220-300, connecting Luanda to a key Lusophony connection, São Tomé Island. The pioneer flight departed from Luanda International Airport with regular passengers and C-level executives aboard, who were welcomed upon arrival, by His Excellency Fidelino Peliganga, Angola´s Ambassador in São Tomé and Príncipe. Globally, around 200 passengers went from/to Luanda/São Tomé/Luanda itinerary, benefiting from the utmost comfort, travel experience within an efficient, environment friendly aircraft.
Thus, the aircraft also operated a domestic route today, linking Luanda, to Benguela, a major touristic destination in-country, mobilizing 240 passengers overall.
The configuration of TAAG’s Airbus A220-300 has a total capacity of 137 passengers (12 in business class and 125 in economy class). The A220-300 is allocated to perform domestic and regional (intra-African) routes.
Highlight for this historic moment, meaning that, for the first time, TAAG has an Airbus aircraft incorporated as proprietary fleet, empowering the multi-brand strategy implemented by the flagship airline.
TAAG´s A220-300 aircraft is also the first equipment to incorporate the company new brand, retaining all the Angolan identity, showcasing the «Palanka» symbol on the plane’s tail and wings.
