Able Aerospace Services, Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company and a global leader in aviation repair, overhaul, and replacement parts for both fixed- and rotor-wing customers, has officially been certified as a Green Aviation Business by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA). This certification marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability within the aviation industry.

The NATA’s Sustainability Standard is specifically designed to help aviation businesses reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, adopt more eco-friendly energy sources, reduce waste, and encourage environmental sustainability across all aspects of their operations. By achieving this certification, Able Aerospace is demonstrating its leadership in supporting a greener future for the aviation sector.

Able Aerospace attained certification through the implementation of several key environmental initiatives at its Mesa, Arizona facility. Among the most impactful of these measures was the installation of a machine-learning system on the company’s air compressors, which is helping to optimize energy use. Additionally, the company introduced motion-sensor lighting to minimize electricity consumption and adopted an advanced Energy Management System (EMS) to control heating and cooling more efficiently.

“At Able Aerospace, we are committed to creating a more sustainable future for our employees, communities, and customers,” said Travis Tyler, Vice President and General Manager of Able Aerospace Services. “This certification signifies our continued dedication to sustainability, which is important for today and tomorrow.”

The NATA’s Sustainability Standard is a self-certification process that provides aviation businesses with flexible and cost-effective options to reduce their carbon footprint. The standard supports businesses in making tangible improvements toward more sustainable operations, a mission that Able Aerospace has fully embraced.

“As an organization, we understand our responsibility in being good stewards of the environment while continuing to achieve excellence in the aviation industry,” added Tyler.

Headquartered in a 250,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona, Able Aerospace Services offers more than 10,000 FAA-approved repairs and overhauls. The company also boasts one of the world’s largest rotable exchange inventories, providing commercial and military aviation customers with a wide range of critical maintenance and repair services.
