SKYPORTS, SEA MILANO, AND 2I AEROPORTI LAUNCH ‘VEGA’ JOINT VENTURE FOR AAM IN ITALY

VEGA’s primary goal is to establish sustainable, zero-emission transport solutions for both passengers and goods, with the first project focusing on connecting Malpensa Airport with Milan’s city center. This marks the beginning of a larger expansion plan, which includes scaling operations to other regions within Lombardy and potentially extending across Italy.

Each of the joint venture partners brings a wealth of expertise to VEGA. Skyports contributes its global experience in designing and operating vertiport infrastructure. SEA Milan draws on its 70-year history of managing two of Italy’s busiest airports, while 2i Aeroporti leverages its vast network of Italian airport platforms and strong relationships with local institutions to support the growth of VEGA.

Paolomaria Capello, the newly appointed CEO of VEGA, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “We are delivering cutting-edge electric vertical aviation technology that will create faster, cleaner connections between airports and urban centers. With VEGA, we are laying the foundation for a new era in sustainable mobility in Italy.”

Damian Kysely, Director of VEGA and Head of EMEA at Skyports, added: “This joint venture is a critical milestone for the development of AAM in northern Italy. By creating the necessary infrastructure, we are positioning Milan and Lombardy at the forefront of Europe’s air mobility revolution.”

With the full backing of F2i, Italy’s largest infrastructure fund, and its control over 2i Aeroporti, VEGA’s long-term vision includes expanding beyond Lombardy, laying the groundwork for an integrated, sustainable, and modern air mobility system across Italy.
