“Collegiate Connect is a carefully curated event to help students learn about, and get inspired by business aviation. It’s like business aviation LinkedIn, come to life,” said Jo Damato, CAM. senior vice president of education, training, and workforce development at NBAA. “Ultimately, though, it’s about getting students to come and have fun getting engaged with our industry.
“This event is about our industry’s future,” she added. “It’s the perfect chance to attract incredible talent and get them engaged with business aviation and the many opportunities that await them.”
The program opened with a welcome from NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen and other industry leaders. Next was a panel discussion where young professionals and seasoned management-level speakers shared their strategies for attracting and retaining top talent in business aviation.
After the panel discussion, students participated in an exciting networking event. They were encouraged to select from one of nine career categories and speak with young professionals in those roles. There will also be an opportunity to explore the NBAA-BACE exhibit floor and engage with those in their prospective career field. The job categories include airport business, flight attendant, pilot, scheduler, maintenance, and marketing.
The tour concluded at the NBAA-BACE Career Fair where students could connect with recruiters, get headshots taken, and more.
