Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. proudly announces that the award-winning Gulfstream G650 and G650ER have collectively surpassed 1 million flight hours. With more than 560 aircraft in service globally, this milestone reinforces the G650 series’ reputation as iconic business jets in the aviation industry.
Launched in 2012 and 2014 respectively, the G650 and G650ER have consistently set new benchmarks in business aviation. The G650, honored with the 2014 Robert J. Collier Trophy for its innovations in performance, safety, and efficiency, continues to lead the industry. In 2022, it made headlines by completing a flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), marking a first for a business-jet original equipment manufacturer.
“We could not be more pleased that the G650 program — synonymous with business aviation excellence — has been serving our customers for over a decade,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream. “This milestone is a true testament to our precision manufacturing, state-of-the-art design, world-class Gulfstream Customer Support, and commitment to continuously improve our customers’ operating experience.”
The G650 series boasts over 125 city-pair speed records and the G650ER holds the record for the farthest, fastest business jet flight in history. These aircraft feature an award-winning, flexible interior that includes the Gulfstream Cabin Experience, providing 100% fresh air, an ultra-low cabin altitude, and abundant natural light from 16 panoramic oval windows, accommodating up to 19 passengers.
Gulfstream’s ongoing commitment to innovation is evident in the recent Primus Epic Block 3 avionics upgrade for the G650 and G650ER. Developed with Honeywell, these enhancements provide pilots with advanced tools to make informed safety decisions during all flight phases, building on the existing Gulfstream PlaneView II flight deck systems.
Performance-wise, the G650 can fly up to 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometers) at Mach 0.85 and 6,000 nautical miles (11,112 kilometers) at Mach 0.90. The G650ER extends these capabilities, flying up to 7,500 nautical miles (13,890 kilometers) at Mach 0.85 and 6,400 nautical miles (11,853 kilometers) at Mach 0.90. Both aircraft have a near-supersonic maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925, a maximum cruise altitude of 51,000 feet (15,545 meters), and FAA and EASA validation for steep-approach landing operations.
Since its inception, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has been at the forefront of business aviation, starting with the first purpose-built business aircraft, the Gulfstream I, which first flew in 1958. Today, with more than 3,000 aircraft in service worldwide, Gulfstream continues to innovate and expand its fleet. This includes models such as the super-midsize Gulfstream G280, the high-performing G650 and G650ER, and a next-generation family of aircraft, including the all-new G400, award-winning G500 and G600, flagship G700, and ultra-long-range G800. All Gulfstream aircraft are supported by a robust Customer Support network.
