SAA EXPANDS FLIGHT SCHEDULE TO KEY AFRICAN AND INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS

South African Airways (SAA) has announced an increase in flight frequencies across multiple key African routes, as well as popular destinations in the Indian Ocean and Australia. Starting from November 2024, SAA expanded its operations to accommodate rising demand, aiming to strengthen South Africa’s connectivity with the continent and beyond.

Under the new schedule, flights to Harare and Lusaka will be increased to 12 times weekly, up from 10 and 7 times, respectively. Routes to Lagos and Accra will each be serviced four times a week, an upgrade from the current three weekly flights. Additionally, SAA will increase flights to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo to five times weekly.

On the domestic front, SAA is increasing flights to Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) to three times daily, improving local travel options within South Africa.

Expansion to Mauritius and Perth

In line with growing demand for leisure travel, SAA will offer twice-daily flights to Mauritius starting in December, just in time for the holiday season. Flights to Perth, a popular destination for South Africans, will also be expanded, with an additional frequency in December 2024 and a further increase in January 2025, bringing the total to five weekly flights.

Commitment to Connecting Africa

Professor John Lamola, SAA’s Interim CEO, highlighted the airline’s ongoing commitment to fostering connectivity within Africa and beyond. “Our strategic growth focuses on expanding routes based on demand and feasibility,” said Lamola. “Air travel is vital for building tourism and trade links across Africa, which benefits both South Africa and the continent as a whole.”

Passengers can explore these new flight options and book tickets through SAA’s official website.
