Eve Air Mobility has taken a significant step toward certifying its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft as Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) published the final airworthiness criteria. This achievement follows a period of public consultation and marks a crucial stage in Eve’s journey toward obtaining full certification for its innovative eVTOL aircraft.
The publication of the airworthiness criteria by ANAC is pivotal in the type certification process for Eve’s aircraft. With this benchmark reached, Eve will now work closely with ANAC to define the means of compliance specific to its eVTOL, while also collaborating with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the concurrent validation of ANAC’s certification.
“The publication of the final airworthiness criteria marks an important step towards the certification of our eVTOL. The feedback received during the public consultation phase was invaluable in refining these criteria. We are now looking forward to continue working closely with ANAC on Type Certification (TC) and the FAA on the simultaneous validation of the ANAC TC,” said Luiz Valentini, Eve’s Chief Technology Officer.
Eve initiated its formal application for the Type Certificate in February 2022. The eVTOL certification process aligns with Brazil’s “special class category” aircraft requirements, adhering to both the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulations and additional criteria necessary for this new class of urban air mobility vehicles.
In a collaborative effort with prominent aviation authorities and industry partners, Eve is helping define the next era of urban air mobility. The company’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and technological advancement aims to provide a reliable, environmentally-friendly transportation alternative for city commuters. Eve’s eVTOL project promises to push the boundaries of urban air transportation and provide a streamlined, efficient solution to the future needs of air mobility.
