REGULATORY GREEN LIGHT FOR AIRLINK TO CONNECT CAPE TOWN WITH GABORONE

Airlink, Southern Africa’s premier airline is proceeding with its plans to launch direct Cape Town-Gaborone flights from 01 April 2025.

This follows confirmation by the Botswana and South African regulatory authorities that all of the necessary approvals are in place to allow Airlink to serve the route.

“We appreciate both governments’ aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter, so that Airlink can do what it does best, which is connnecting people and markets by providing reliable and convenient flights with great service.   We have reinstated the flights in the global reservations system, which lets customers make reservations for flights on the route,” said Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster.

“Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel and we have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long haul customers, for an Airlink direct service between the two cities,” he added.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays departing Cape Town International Airport at 10.50 and arriving at Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at 13.00.   The return service leaves Gaborone at 13.45 and lands in Cape Town at 16.00.

Airlink will operate modern 44-seat Embraer E140 Regional Jets on the route.  Fares include a 20kg free Economy Class checked-in luggage allowance plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance, however, full fare Economy (Y class) tickets include a 30kg complimentary luggage allowance.  Onboard, customers are treated to a complimentary light meal and refreshments.  Our cabins are designed for comfort with generous leg room and a choice of aisle or window seats – Airlink aircraft do not have middle seats.

Airlink flights are scheduled to provide convenient connections with our other domestic and regional services as well as with long-haul flights provided by our constellation of global airline partners.
